The Benefits of a Business Card

Although the digital world is changing the way we communicate, there is still substance to having an old fashioned business card handy in your back pocket ready to give to your next potential client or prospect. Here are some reasons why a business card can help you and your business.

Networking

Have you ever found yourself in a room of people and started talking with a potential lead and lost it because you weren’t prepared? Sure, you could exchange numbers with both of you lost in your phones and not engaging with each other in conversation, however you might find that valuable chat regarding what you can offer will soon diminish. A business card is a solid item that can be quickly exchanged and something they can take home with them and remember you when they empty their pockets.

First Impressions

Business cards are a great way to show your potential leads your level of professionalism and a snapshot into your business. They are a quick source of information with your contact details and the products or services you offer. I often find it is one of the first things along with a logo my clients ask for, but before I design business cards I explore the clients target market and develop a sense of style that can be adopted throughout the whole business. One of the most important elements to your business is being consistent, this creates trust and a recognisable brand.

Dare to be Different

Gone are the days where we would send artwork to the printer with a rectangular boring business card in return. Times have changed, you can now think outside the square and have a business card people will want to keep because it is too impressive to throw out. There are so many ways of standing out with the advanced printing technologies developed over the years such as;

  • spot UV
  • rounded corners
  • raised print
  • magnetic
  • die-cut
  • foiled
  • different shapes and sizes
  • wide variety of paper stock options
  • NFC cards

NFC Cards

There is also the option of business cards that integrate with technology using an embedded ‘Near Field Communication’ (NFC) chip, this allows receivers to go to a link you choose such a website or app when they tap your card against any NFC enabled like a smartphone or tablet. These nifty cards also allow you to track, edit the links the card goes to and shows you how well they are performing.
